We have seen over the years, many so-called professionals who quote a price based on difficulty – and will point out “keyword competition” factors such as the number of pages competing to be found, the number of results returned for the keyword search, and other apparently useful metrics.

In February 1998, Goto.com, A 25 employee start up company, came up with the first PPC search engine, which was conceptualized by, Bill Gross, the founder of, Idealab and Goto.com. PPC is an advertising model, which is used on relevant search engines, advertising networks, as well as content websites, wherein, the advertisers would pay , every time a user clicks on your ad, to visit your website. You have to bid on keywords and phrases which you believe, are most likely to be typed in by your target market, when they are browsing, for a product or service. Every time a user types a keyword query which matches your keyword list, your website is displayed. PPC advertising provides you, the flexibility, to select keywords and phrases, which you would like your website to appear for, every time a search is done, on the pertinent search engines.
